Miss Cebu 2014 Candidates
Miss Cebu celebrates its 30th year as a pageant
that presents to the world the true beauty of a Cebuana.
Started in 1983 by a small group of Cebuanos blessed
with foresight, Miss Cebu took on the task of promoting Cebu as a viable
alternative tourist destination. This came at a time when tourism in the Asia
Pacific region was in its early stages and an imperative tool for countries to
woo investors to their shores. Cebu's leaders then understood that the Queen
City of the South needed to position herself as an island blessed with splendid
resources that beckoned and nurtured tourism and trade.
The Miss Cebu pageant became an event Cebuanos looked
forward to and an effective vehicle to establish good international relations
in its early years with countries like Japan, Australia and Korea among others.
Hence, through typhoons, administration changes and
economic turmoil, the organizers continued to put up the pageant every January,
making it a must-see during the Sinulog fiesta week. Despite how much the pageant
has evolved, some things remain the same. Although there are new faces each
year, the quality of the women and pageant has been consistent. The tradition,
legacy, relevance and message of the Miss Cebu pageant remains that the Cebuana
is more than just your usual beautiful face- she is an epitome of beauty,
brains, a woman of substance. Consistently, Miss Cebu has produced national and
international beauty queens, world-class models and individuals who excel and
stand out in different fields.
Miss Cebu is unique and special. She is goal-oriented,
direct and ambitious. She is an achiever in many areas.
Miss Cebu is a model for other women. She cares about a
woman's role in society, especially in addressing challenging issues in
society. She works in a defined way toward possible solutions and uses her
crown and its accompanying responsibilities to make a difference in the
community that has chosen her to be its role model.
Miss Cebu is confident, commanding in presence and a
potential leader by virtue of experience in competitions. She is an eloquent
communicator and one who exudes talent, intelligence, charisma, and health. She
is also physically attractive both in face and figure.
Miss Cebu displays all these characteristics in her
everyday life both as an individual, with the hope of advancing her career, her
personal and humanitarian goals, and a woman, seeking to improve the lives of
others in her community.
