Miss Universe 2014 Swimsuit Gallery 2

Miss Universe 2014, will be the 63rd Miss Universe pageant, to be held on January 25, 2015 at the FIU Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Miami, Florida, USA. Eighty-eight contestants from all over the world will compete for the crown. Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will crown her successor at end of the event. The winner of the pageant will get to wear the new crown made by Diamonds International Corporation, a Czech based jeweller, the newest official jewelry maker of Miss Universe.

Miss Earth 2013 Review

Here are my rants and reviews regarding the Miss Earth 2013 pageant which culminated last December 7:

The live update of the pageant at Starworld opened with a failure. It doesn’t have a sound and the lighting was just so bad, there are many dark areas in the venue. The National Musuem was a better venue.

I like the many sponsor awards. It means so much for the candidates, and the awards were pretty distributed.

It was difficult for some girls to move since some of them fear that they might fall off from the stage/stairs. Some delegates were even late during the gown presentation.

Give us better camera-men please. They didn’t give us good angles. The calling of the top 16 was not visually suspense-filled. Background music was not also at its best. No drum rolls, and that’s a pity.

The Wrecking Balls background of Miley Cyrus during the gown presentation was a big no-no. It was so, so barangay-yish. Give us background songs from nature – like the musical chirping of the birds, etc.

David Pomeranz was a great singer, but please, just ask him to sing once.

Is it the candidates who are to provide interpreters? Why is it that Miss Universe doesn’t run out of interpreters? Some candidates lost their chances because of their very bad English, hardly understandable. But I guess if Serbia and Poland had interpreters, the placement of the elemental queens may have been different.

The Miss Earth Pageant is fair. The victory of Venezuela is sweeter because it happened on the country which is their rival for the country of the year. This only goes to show that the winning candidate indeed deserved it.

Best of Luck to Alyz! She’s beautiful and I believe she has a good heart too.

Miss Earth 2013 Q and A Transcript

Miss Austria - Katia Wagner: She was asked about the greatest invention in modern time. she said “solar energy.”

Miss Korea - Catharina Choi: she was asked what is the worst form of discrimination. She replied that there is no worst form of discrimination because any form of descrimiination is bad.

Miss Mexico - Kristal Silva: she was asked about the biggest risk she did in life. She said the biggest risk she took was joining the pageant because it was for a cause and letting people be aware of environmental care.

Miss Thailand - Punika Kulsoontornrut: she first apologized for her poor English. She was asked what is the biggest threat to Mother Earth aside from climate change. She replied that human behavior is the biggest threat to Mother Earth because every human behavior affects the environment and the world.

Miss Poland - Aleksandra Szczęsna:  she had no interpreter! She was asked why did God allow calamities to happen. She replied that God wants to show us thatwe should love together.

Miss Philippines – Angelee Claudett de los Reyes: she was asked how did Mother Nature feel about the calamities recently, especially Yolanda. She said that Mother Nature is really sad. But it is not also meant to devastate us but to also make us realize that we have to take good care of one another so Mother Nature will also take care of us.

Miss Venezuela - Alyz Henrich: she was asked about the contribution of eco-tourism in the protection of the environment. She said that it contributes because we people are the one’s responsible for the devastation; thus we need to also be aware on how to take care of it.

Miss Serbia - Andjelka Tomasevic: she was asked what will define beauty. She replied that beauty is what we do. If we take care of everyone, then that is real beauty.
