What sets it apart from other beauty pageants is aside from it has no swimsuit competition, the contest focuses more on community development. The contest is not just about beauty but more on how the modern-day Dabawenyas could be of service to their fellows.

30 girls made it to the screening for this year's search. They were officially introduced to the public through a presentation show held in one the major malls in the city. In the past weeks, they took part in different activities wherein for one, they paraded in casual dresses and evening gowns. A major change in the pageant was made for this year, instead of the usual selection of only 5 ladies for the coronation, 15 candidates were chosen to battle it out in the finals.
