MANILA, Philippines – After Megan Young earned the
Philippines its first Miss World title last September 2013, Miss World
Philippines pageant director Cory Quirino is working to have the country host
the next Miss World pageant.
Quirino and Young personally presented their proposal to Vice President Jejomar Binay at the Coconut Palace in Pasay on February 6. A meeting with the Department of Tourism was also scheduled on the same day.
Binay expressed enthusiasm for the endeavor, but no final plans have been made. Talking to the press, Quirino said they are on stand-by, waiting for President Aquino to see the proposal. Should their plans push through, hosting the pageant would be another first for the Philippines.
